Implementation of USABat Standard for 2018

Updated Saturday December 2, 2017 by Sam Haddadin.

Central City Baseball Community,

As many of you know, 2018 is almost here.  There are some pretty dramatic changes in the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken bat rules for 2018 as they adopt the USABat Standards.  You can find a nice chart and description here.  As part of a Babe Ruth/CalRipken league Central City will be enforcing the new 2018 bat requirements begining with our Spring 2018 season.  If you are considering buying your player a bat for Christmas please review the following:

  • Cal Ripken players 7-12 years of age are allowed to use their own bat if it meets the following criteria:
    • Has the "USA Baseball" marking
    • Bat barrel can be no wider than 2 5/8"
    • NO BBCOR BATS
  • Babe Ruth players 13-15 years of age are allowed to use their own bat if it meets the following criteria:
    • Has the "USA Baseball" marking OR BBCOR .50
    • Must have a 2 5/8" barrel
  • Babe Ruth players 16-18
    • All bats must be BBCOR .50
    • No greater than -3

Please check out the Approved Bat List at UASBat.  If you want more information on the Implementation of the USABat stantards for 2018 you can click here.  Keep in mind that we will allow the use of the older bats for practice so there is no need to discard your bats but it is important to understand that our league will not allow bats that dont meet the approved bat criteria during a game for the 2018 Season and beyond.

If you have any questions please dont hesitate to reach out to us at centralcitybaseball@comcast.net.

Thanks
